Enroll in the CERTS training to access study resources such as video lectures, study notes, exercises and assessments.
Events And Training
Do the simulation test (SimEx) as planned. It consists of sixty (60) questions over three (3) hours. A student must score a minimum of 35/60 to qualify for the CFMP exam. A student who has not passed SimEx can resit the next schedule for a minimal fee.
Eligible candidates will be registered for the CFMP exam as scheduled. The exam consists of sixty (60) questions scheduled over three (3) hours. What Does A Financial Advisor Do?
The direct path to CFP certification begins when you enroll in an FP Canada-approved undergraduate program and an FP Canada-approved graduate program, or a program that meets undergraduate and graduate curriculum requirements. Simultaneously or consecutively, you can register for the Introduction to Professional Ethics (IPE) course.
After completing the IPE course and FP Canada-approved core and graduate programs, you can enroll in the CFP Professional Education Program.
You can apply for CFP certification if you have passed the CFP exam and gained three years of qualified professional experience.
To qualify for CFP certification, applicants must have a graduate degree from an accredited college or university. FP Canada accepts international diplomas if supporting documents are provided to confirm that the international diploma is equivalent to a Canadian diploma.
How A Financial Planner Can Help You
Candidates are exempt from the Continuing Education requirement if they have passed the CFP exam before March 31, 2022, have more than 10 years of relevant work experience or hold a QAFP certification for at least five years and are QAFP professionals with be in good standing. Enroll in an FP Canada-approved undergraduate program or an FP Canada-approved core + graduate program. You can choose to complete this program before, at the same time as, or after completing the FP Canada Institute™ IPE course.
Enroll in an FP Canada approved graduate program. You can choose to take this program before, at the same time or after completing the IPE course.
Enroll in the IPE course. You may choose to complete this course before, at the same time as, or after completing the FP Canada-approved undergraduate and graduate curriculum.
Certified Financial Management Professional
Take the CFP exam. The CFP exam is a six-hour, computer-based exam that consists of a combination of independent multiple-choice questions (20%-30%) and case-based structured answers (70%-80%). The exam specifications are published in the FP Canada Blueprint: CFP Examination. Each question on the exam focuses on a specific aspect of the FP Canada Standards Council™ competency profile and integrates different budget areas. The CFP exam is given three times a year, can be taken in person at a testing center or via an online exam, and is available in English and French (upon request).
Once you have three years of qualified work experience, you are ready to apply for CFP certification.
