The Financial Planner

I come from a legal background and am concerned about the numerical aspect of this course. Will I be able to handle it?

Our students come from a variety of backgrounds, academically and professionally. Some have been in the financial services industry for decades, others just graduated. Law students usually find the trust and estate planning section easy (where claims are discussed) but struggle with the investment planning section. We provide a list of additional reading materials, some of which are located in the university library. We also recommend that students do additional preparatory work and, in some cases, do a two-year program. Ultimately, however, we have excellent local achievement rates, so our students adapt very well.

For RPL Candidates: Yes. For other candidates, no. But we find that those with work experience in financial planning do better.
